The Temple
If one of the Thursday Nighters won the lottery, it's a fair bet that they'd spend their winnings on jacking up The Temple, moving it nearer the centre of Sale, purging the quiz and half the regulars, and employing a private army of bouncers to keep the riff-raff out. Delicious yet dirt-cheap beer, homely atmosphere and convenient chip shop (which would also have to be jacked up & moved) make this one of the finest boozers in the district. Thing is, it's a long trek for most of the Boys, leading to the ambience being marred by griping and moaning about the long distances covered. In its current location it also suffers from alcoholic wrecks and gimmers, desperate to raise the £1.27 required for one more pint. I've never seen a more sobering advert for moderation than the old sot who offered to sell your heroes his jacket for the price of a beer.
