The Sale Tavern
Or Sale Hotel. Or whatever. You know where I mean, it changes its name every two months. Another long-serving Thursday haunt, until an unexpected drama involving a drunk, meddling scouser and a near-death incident that made us think it best to give the place a wide berth. A photfit picture of Mike Parry is pinned up behind the bar to this day. Fair selection of beers, plenty of human drama to look at, and a beer garden that always smelt vaguely of sewage. Clever knack of getting late drinkers out by sucking all the heat out of the pub. There has been the occasional distressing evening when the Boys have turned up to find a disco blazing away, but all things considered the place has done us good service. Probably worth a return, albeit with Mike wearing a false beard.
