The
last weekend in September 2000 saw three intrepid Thursday Nighters
head up to Penrith on a quest for rest, relaxation and Jennings Bitter.
The first two came fairly easily, despite the fact that Rosie and Helen
came along. The last one, however, proved a little more tricky as we
managed to stay in the only pub for 50 miles that didn't serve Jennings,
bitter of choice for your Thursday connoisseurs. Through sheer determination
your heroes tracked down this fabled brew, and even did the Jennings
Brewery Tour in Cockermouth, culminating in getting to play at being
a landlord in the Museum's very own bar. An excellent weekend was had
by all, as the pictures show...

The
Jennings Brewery Tour is highly recommended - it's at 11am & 2pm
every day including Bank Holidays, February to October. There's an extra
tour at 12.30pm mid July to end of August. Book in advance on 01900
821011, or click here to be taken to the excellent Jennings
website.

| It wasn't all drinking Jennings and falling about you know... actually it was mostly. But we also did some serious research. The nice people at the Visitor Centre gave us a valuable list of pubs in the Manchester area that sometimes serve Jennings. See how useful this site is? | |
