The
Cellar Bar
|

|
Thursday
night venue for longer than I care to remember, despite being pretty
inconvenient for most of the Boys. Electric smooth Boddingtons and Flowers
for the bitter drinkers, though I seem to remember the lagers being
alright. In fairness, the bar staff were always friendly and tolerant
above and beyond the call of duty, but familiarity breeds contempt and
we eventually moved on. Probably deserves a return visit as a nostalgia
trip, though Don would be within his rights to slate us something chronic
for having the audacity to come creeping back after such a long unexplained
absence. Classic bar decor. Upstairs is the 'hotel' bar, usual venue
for Ladies' Night - undoubtedly the most unwelcoming and inconveniently
laid out place for a large group of people to meet, with a landlady
who obviously finds punters an irritation that she'd like to cut out
of her life.
