The Bank

Long-time and conveniently central haunt for the Boys. Good range of beers, though the Pedigree wasn't always to be found and a big night on the Banks can have dire consequences the next day. Drambuie always available. Unfortunate tendency to staff the bar with a single well-meaning but slow youth during the busiest periods. Landlord known as The Birdman, due to his excellent impersonation of a marauding seagull out of Hitchcock's 'The Birds' one bizarre evening. The Thursday Boys' reception at The Bank became increasingly unpredictable as the weeks wore on, and 'regular fatigue' set in with The Birdman. He eventually had 1,000kW halogen lamps installed in the lounge, which would be turned on with blinding effect to drive us onto the street at throwing-out time. The Boys' tenure came to an end when The Birdman admitted that he didn't like us, 'but then, I don't really like anybody'. He is believed to have since flown the coop.
